This is a feeble attempt to explain our horrifically complex Forum Structure. It may or may not be helpful. These instructions turned out to be much more complex than the forum structure itself, but there's nothing to be done, it's too late now.
1. The Forum Index Page
Pressing the "FORUMS" button at the top of every page takes you to our Forum Index Page.
The Halexandria Foundation forums are divided into four main Discussion Areas:
- Space-Time Continuum
- Anti-Entropic Consciousness
- Flash Points
- The Master and Margarita
These purposely confusing names mean nothing beyond the silly things we were able to conjure up when forced to. Don't use them for anything except to shake your head at how outrageous people can get, and teach your children not to imitate. The Discussion Areas are just a convenient grouping that we hoped would make the whole thing more manageable. We were wrong.
The fourth title atually actually does mean something, but the place itself is only for the real weirdos, so don't go in without scuba equipment. Let's deal with just the top three.
Each of the top three Areas is divided into several Forums. Under the name of each Disussion Area, you can see the list of the names of the Forums that it contains.
2. Inside a Forum
Clicking on the name of a Discussion Area will make your browser page show just the Forums that it contains.
For example, by clicking "Space-Time Continuum" you will see only the names of the four Forums that are running there - starting with "Sacred Mathematics" and ending with "Chronicles of Earth".
But you may find it more convenient to have the whole Forum Index page open, where you see all our Forums listed one under the other, in their respective Discussion Areas.
The names of the forums are also largely elaborate nonsense, but this time it wasn't a coincidence. They were chosen to fit with the general division of topics on the Library of Halexandria. Don't worry, we'll figure the whole thing out yet.
3. The Conversation-Threads
Clicking on the name of a particular Forum will take you inside that forum, to see the separate Conversation-Threads that are going on there.
For example, clicking on "Chronicles of Earth" will show you all the conversations taking place under that forum .
Leaving your mouse pointer to "hover" over the name of any Thread for a few seconds, should bring up the date on which that thread was started.
At the top of the Threads list you should see two links which read: "Halexandria Foundation Forum Index » Chronicles of Earth, which tells you what forum you are currently viewing.
4. Inside a Conversation-Thread
Clicking on a particular Thread name there from the above page, takes you inside that conversation.
For example, click on "Can we change our past?", and you can see the actual postings that people have made on the subject. The name-subject of this Conversation is written at the top left.
This is the point where you can actually participate in the discussion, by pressing the "Reply" button at the bottom or top left of the thread text.
Alternately, you can press the "Quote" button at the top right of a message which you wish to quote. In this instance, please quote only the relevant parts of the text that you're replying to, and not the entire previous posting.
5. Starting a new Conversation
When looking at the list of the Conversations on a particular forum, as in 3 above, press the "New Topic" at the left, above or below the thread list.
This will start an entirely new Conversation-thread in the forum you are at.
Same when looking inside any Conversation-thread as in 4 above - press the "New Topic" button located next to the "Reply". In this case the new conversation does not have to be related to the one you are currently looking at, but should remain under the general definition of that particular Forum.
When you start a new Thread choose your "Subject" line wisely, as your conversation will henceforth be posted on the Internet forever under that name, and indexed as such by Search Engines.
6. To find new postings
There are several possibilities:
a. Our Front Page should have a running listing of the latest Forum Postings. Clicking on each one will take you directly to it. At the top of that thread will be the name of the Forum where that posting was made.
b. On the Forum Index page, press the link "View posts since last visit", on the upper right above the forums list. This should show the latest posts, but for many different reasons it doesn't always work.
c. On each of the Forum or Thread Index pages, there's a "Latest Post" column on the far right. Pressing the little arrow next a name there, will take you to that posting. As in 1, the name of the Forum this posting was made on is written at the top of that thread.
7. Refresh your browser page often
To get the best results.
Whew! See, that's all, a few months hard work and you'll have it all down pat. And that should enable you to do IT! Good luck.
Please feel free to lodge any inquiries about the above - below, (in triplicate and including the original packaging and receipt,) and our especially trained crew of Tasmanians will try to alleviate the problem.
And may the Great Bozosattva have Mercy on us all.
